Vintage and Antique Chandeliers

Chandeliers have never been more popular. There are many different styles and colors. No matter what your home décor is, there is a chandelier out there that is a perfect fit.

Having been around since as early as the 13th century, Italian chandeliers are known for their elegance. Chandeliers with Murano glass are the epitome of grace and sophistication. These chandeliers have a large centerpiece with eight arms reaching outwards. Murano chandeliers can come with several colors of glass. Italian chandeliers are often embellished with flowers, leaves and vines for a romantic look. They come in several colors and range from filigree to simple styles.

Crystal chandeliers come in a range of choices. From ultra fancy ones with multiple tiers and lots of crystal, to simpler ones with one crystal hanging from each branch. There are crystal chandeliers that are flush against the ceiling, ones with tiers getting smaller and ones where the tiers get larger. There are also ones with mirrors around the fixture, which make the chandelier light brighter, and ones with material around the fixture, which add a sense of serenity to the chandeliers lighting.

Antique chandeliers look lovely in many settings. They are often in black wrought-iron or white iron with a color underneath to make it appear aged. Styles often turn to the late 17th century with Spanish influence. This means lots of curves, flourishes and fancy scroll-work. Early 20th century brought forth chandeliers with leaves covering all the arms in bronze. These two-tired chandeliers come with ten arms really lighting up a room.

Vintage chandeliers have boomed in popularity in the last few years. Reminiscent of yester-year, yet most likely made last year, these are affordable if you like the old look without the hefty price tag. Vintage likes to use color in chandeliers. Often, the colors have an aged look, as if they have been sitting in an attic for the past fifty years. Turquoise is a trendy color in vintage chandeliers, especially when mixed with aged silver. Scroll-work with birds and flower motifs are common.

Ever popular, a black chandelier can be a good fit in any room. They come in black wrought-iron and other black metals. Some have black material surrounding the center piece and some have black crystals dangling from them. Black is a great color as well as a timeless one.

With all the chandeliers offered today it really becomes a matter of choice, style and what makes a person happy. Any chandelier will enhance your room so buy what feels right.
